Thornbury – Plein Air Brandywine Valley

“Thornbury” watercolor by Yvonne Pecor Mucci (sold)

Thornbury CSA Farm is a pretty cool place in person and has some neat history. Lots of horses milling about and a gorgeous red barn made for a nice painting subject. Through the Plein Air Brandywine Valley competition we were allowed access to paint throughout their property. As you can see from the image below, I had a great spot in the shadows to paint this fall scene.

Proceeds of the Plein Air Brandywine Valley event benefit Children’s Beach House. Attend the 2019 Plein Air Brandywine Valley Opening Reception on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. Artist applications are now open.

Truly beautiful! Was just wondering when your next classes will begin? Best Regards, Barbara Millar

    • Hi Barbara, Thank you! Classes are going on now, new ones starting September 4th, 2019. Hope all is well with you.
      Best regards,

  3. Just beautiful. How long did it take?

    • Thank you. For these plein air events usually I spend a half hour hiking around deciding what to paint, then sketch for another half hour. Once you start painting it’s about 4 hours depending on the size. I am not a fast painter, so if I manage to have a great day I’ll complete two. Of course, then you have to frame when you get home and turn in your work in the morning. Challenging, but really pushes you to improve.
      Btw, I love your work!
