Oh, how I wish I was still sitting on this beautiful beach!  I wanted to capture the sea grape trees and the ocean reef.  The trees were masked out and the background blocked in.  Once a general background color was in place I could remove the masking fluid and concentrate on the trees.  I don’t like to leave masking fluid in place for more than color blocking.  It was important to keep the sky palette different from the ocean while incorporating all colors in the trees and reef.

    This immediately reminded me of my recent trip to St. John…not too far off! Love love love these islands. This is breathtaking! I also love your latest hydrangea painting. You are very talented and have inspired me to pick up my brushes again.
