Palm Tree Watercolor (Framed 20 x 24) By Yvonne Pecor Mucci
Palm trees are really complex. This watercolor study is painted on Arches 140 lb cold press paper. Masking fluid was not used on this painting giving me slightly softer edges. The whispy sky was painted in several glazes using cerulean and ultramarine blues, painted through the palms and lifted from the trunk while damp. A yellow underpainting gave me warmer and stronger darks.

/ July 26, 2012You are amazing, Yvonne. I love water colors and appreciate how you explain the steps you took. I piece quilt tops and have learned how to use very unusual colors together. Picking out fabrics is the most fun – consequently I have a lot of unfinished quilt tops. 🙂 Sometimes I just touch and hold my fabrics because I love the colors so much.
Now I have your blog to fulfill my need to see color working towards beauty.
